Gustav Georg Zeltner

Gustav Georg Zeltner (born September 16, 1672 in Hiltpoltstein , † July 20, 1738 in Poppenreuth ) was a Lutheran theologian . Zeltner wrote numerous theological and historical writings.

Life

Zeltner was born the son of a preacher. From 1689 to 1694 he studied philosophy and theology at the University of Jena . In 1695 he took over the post of inspector of the alumni in Altdorf . In 1698 he moved to Nuremberg and worked there as vicar and professor for metaphysics at the Aegidianum . Two years later he was appointed deacon at St. Sebald (Nuremberg) .

During his time doctorate in Nuremberg Zeltner in theology and returned in 1706 back to Altdorf to at the local university theology and Oriental to teach. In 1730 he was accepted as a foreign member of the Royal Prussian Society of Sciences .

Zeltner spent his twilight years in Poppenreuth, where he held the post of pastor from 1730 until his death.
