Gustav Hildebrand

Gustav Hildebrand (born June 28, 1925 in Schlüchtern ; † June 20, 2017 ) was a German freelance photographer and journalist .

Hildebrand had worked professionally around the world since the 1950s, but has also made a name for himself as a chronicler in his hometown Schlüchtern and in its closer and wider surroundings. He had a large, comprehensive archive, which he handed over to the Deutsche Fotothek in 2009 , in which almost 7,000 pictures of him can be researched online.

In 1982 he was appointed to the German Society for Photography (DGPh) because of his services to photography .

In 2005 he was awarded the city seal of the city of Schlüchtern in appreciation and recognition of special services in the field of cultural life, homeland maintenance and the local history of the city of Schlüchtern.
