Gustav Hummer (born December 11, 1877 in Znojmo , Moravia , † November 17, 1959 in Vienna ) was an Austro- Moravian politician , pharmacist and writer. He was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives and a member of the Provisional National Assembly .

Life

Hummer was born the son of a notary. He first attended grammar school in Znojmo, then switched to grammar schools in Jihlava and Prague and finally studied pharmacy and political science at the University of Vienna . He was a member of the K.Ö.St.V. Frankonia Wien and after completing his master's degree in pharmacy, passed the state examination at the law faculty. In 1902 he received his doctorate. He then served as a year- old volunteer and was most recently a military medical officer. Hummer worked as a pharmacist in Znojmo between 1906 and 1909 before moving to Vienna in 1910 and opening a pharmacy there.

Hummer was committed to the German Radical Party and was a member of the Moravian state party leadership and from 1097 on the supervisory board of the South Moravian Federation. In addition, from 1908 to 1909 he acted as political director of the German Mahnrufes and from 1910 was a board member of the German National Association for Austria. He also worked as a leading member of the “Free German School” association and was a member of the committees of numerous national associations. He also wrote several political works and the “German Radical Yearbook”. Hummer stood in the Reichsrat election in 1911 in the electoral district of Bohemia 80 and was able to prevail in the runoff election against the social democratic candidate. He was a member of the House of Representatives until 1918 and was a member of the Provisional National Assembly as a member of a German-speaking constituency between October 21, 1918 and February 16, 1919.

He was considered a “powerful speaker and brilliant lawyer” and published the “Free Pharmacist's Voice” between 1928 and 1934. After his death on November 23, 1959, he was buried in the Hietzinger Friedhof .
