Gustav Koch (politician, 1795)

Gustav Koch (born August 6, 1795 in Leipzig , Electorate of Saxony ; † February 9, 1862, presumably in Cölln near Meißen , Kingdom of Saxony ) was a German lawyer and city councilor.

Life

Gustav Koch was the son of the lawyer, proconsul and court councilor Christian Traugott Koch (1752–1826). After home schooling , from 1809 to 1814 at the Pforta State School in Schulpforte , he studied at the University of Leipzig . In 1820 he completed his studies with a doctorate in law . In 1821 he became an assessor in the law faculty of the University of Leipzig. As assessor, deputy criminal judge and city ​​councilor , Koch was from 1824 to 1839 a. a. active in the United Police Office, the Provisional Security Authority and the United Criminal Police Office of the City of Leipzig. In addition to the mayor Christian Adolf Deutrich , Heinrich Demuth and Koch were the only paid members of the Leipzig City Council at that time.

He was married to Louise Koch, née Kupfer.

Honors

On the occasion of his resignation from office as a salaried city councilor and because of his services in municipal offices in 1839, Koch received the honorary citizenship of the city of Leipzig.
