Gustav Lüderitz

Carl Friedrich Gustav Lüderitz (born December 15, 1803 in Berlin , † February 13, 1884 near Berlin) was a German engraver and lithographer .

Life

Lüderitz studied at the Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin in 1819 . In 1823 he was a student in the studio of the painter and graphic artist Ludwig Buchhorn in Berlin. In the years 1827-1832 he stayed in Paris . There he was a student of Théodore Richomme and François Forster . From 1829 he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts . In 1832 he traveled to London , from where he returned to Berlin in the same year. In 1839 he was appointed full member of the Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin, and in 1846 he was appointed professor. From 1853 he was a teacher of mezzotint at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin and from 1855–1876 under the name “Chodowiecki” he was a member of the tunnel over the Spree literary association , which also included Theodor Fontane and Adolph Menzel .
