Gustav Mohr

Gustav Mohr (born November 6, 1839 in Trier , † April 14, 1909 ) was a German chemist , chairman of the professional association for gas and water works, and director of the Potsdam gas station .

Gustav Mohr attended schools in Cologne and Belgium and then studied in Karlsruhe and Berlin. His main subject was chemistry , in which he also passed his doctoral examination in Berlin . He did his military service as a one-year volunteer in Cologne.

After completing his studies, he turned to gas. After various positions he became director of the gas works in Bodenbach , which he managed until the end of September 1873. He then moved to the Deutsche Continental Gasgesellschaft in Dessau , where he worked until his death. Until 1882 he was director of the gas works in Ruhrort , until 1886 he headed the gas works in Mülheim an der Ruhr , then the gas works in Eupen , from the end of 1887 to the gas works in Hagen , and from July 1, 1889 the gas works in Potsdam.

In April 1894 Mohr was elected board member and shop steward of Section I of the Employer's Liability Insurance Association for Gas and Waterworks, and one year later became chairman. In June 1895 he was elected a member of the main board, and on June 27, 1898 as deputy chairman. In 1899 the trade association was elected first chairman. He held this office until his death. He was also a personal member of the German Association of Gas and Water Experts and was a member of the support committee.
