Gustav Scharfe
Gustav Scharfe ( 1835 in Grimma - 1892 in Dresden ) was a German opera singer and singing teacher .
Life
Scharfe was originally an assistant teacher (1854) at the Freiherrlich von Fletchersches teachers seminar and in 1856 at the deaf-mute institute in Leipzig. Because of his excellent musical and vocal abilities, however, he took on a successful engagement as an opera singer for several years at the Dresden Court Opera.
He later went to England and was trained there for the higher demands of singing lessons. Returning to Dresden, he devoted himself very successfully to singing lessons, most recently at the Dresden Conservatory (alongside Felix Draeseke , Emil Karl Goetze , Aglaja Orgeni, among others ). Because of his services as a teacher, he was awarded the title of Professor of Music by the King of Saxony .
