Gustav Scherz

Gustav Scherz CSsR (* 1895 in Vienna ; † March 29, 1971 in Copenhagen ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic theologian and religious priest of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer .

Life

Scherz attended high schools in Katzelsdorf , Leoben and Hall. In 1913 he joined the Redemptorists and studied philosophy and theology in Mautern in Styria . In 1919 he was ordained a priest by the Graz Bishop Leopold Schuster and worked as a chaplain in the Enzenbach Lung Sanatorium in 1920/1921 . 1922 went to Copenhagen in the mission parish St. Annae. At St. Annae Skole , which he ran from 1939 to 1954, he first learned the Danish language, history and literature himself. From 1932 to 1939 he was the editor of the Danish Catholic weekly newspaper Nordisk Ugeblad for katolske Kristne .
