Gustav Turba

Gustav Turba (born February 29, 1864 in Zagreb , † November 4, 1935 in Vienna ) was an Austrian historian .

Life

He studied from 1882 at the University of Vienna history and in 1885 with the thesis About the train Emperor Charles V. against Algiers from 1541 to Dr. phil. PhD. After the teaching examination for history and geography in 1887, he taught as a high school teacher. After his habilitation in general modern history in 1898 at the University of Vienna, his Venia legendi was expanded to include Austrian history in 1903. In 1909 he received the title of associate professor , but continued to work as a high school teacher. In 1917 he was given a professorship and held lectures at the philosophical and law faculties until his early retirement in 1933, the reasons for which are unclear. He also taught cultural history as an honorary lecturer at the Vienna University of Technology . In his research, Turba dealt in particular with legal historical topics such as the right to succession to the throne .
