The Kleine Rotstein is 3048  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Rieserferner Group on the border between East Tyrol ( Austria ) and South Tyrol ( Italy ).

location

The Kleine Rotstein is located in the northwest of the Lienz district (municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen ) or in the northeast of South Tyrol (municipality of Sand in Taufers ). It lies between the Dreieckspitze ( 3030  m above sea level ) in the northwest and the Großer Rotstein ( 3147  m above sea level ) in the southeast. In the northeast is the Fleischbachkees , which does not, however, reach up to the summit. The mountain slopes in South Tyrol are protected in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park .

Increase opportunities

The normal route on the Großer Rotstein leads from the Alpengasthaus Oberhaus via the Jagdhausalm to the western Fleischbachkees. The further path leads over the Kees and a steep flank up to the east ridge and in easy climbing II to the summit.
