Gustav von Keller (politician)

Gustav Ludwig Emil Graf von Keller (born April 25, 1805 in Stedten an der Gera , † October 23, 1897 in Gotha ) was a Prussian civil servant and politician .

Life

Count Gustav Ludwig Emil von Keller was the sixth son of the Prussian chamberlain , real receding and State Minister , Count Christoph von Keller (1757-1827) and his wife Amalie Countess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg-Ludwigsburg (1771-1853) on Castle Stedten at Erfurt born.

Count von Keller traversed the normal career for the sons of Prussian noble families in the army, at court and in civil service. He first entered the army, became a captain , then served in the administration, where he made it up the career ladder to the secret government council, and finally achieved the dignity of chamberlain at court . In the course of the revolution of 1848 he applied for a mandate in the Frankfurt National Assembly and was elected to the Paulskirche parliament for the constituency of the Province of Saxony / Erfurt . He took up his mandate on June 5, 1848 and joined the national-liberal casino faction , in which he remained until his departure on May 20, 1849. At that time, all Prussian MPs withdrew from the Frankfurt National Assembly after the Austrian MPs had already done so on April 5, 1849.

From September 23 to October 28, 1848 he acted as Reich Commissioner of the Provisional Central Authority in the Southwest German States.

Gustav von Keller was married to Mathilde von Bassewitz (1813–1847) for the first time on October 17, 1835 . He concluded a second marriage on July 9, 1849 with Mathilde von Grolman (* November 5, 1813, † December 17, 1900), from which u. a. a daughter emerged, Mathilde , later lady of the court of the Empress Auguste Viktoria .

Count Keller was a knight of honor of the Order of St. John .
