Gustave Fecht

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gustave Wilhelmine Fecht (born August 22, 1768 in Eimeldingen ; † April 23, 1828 in Weil am Rhein ) was a daughter of the Eimeldingen pastor Martin Fecht, who died at an early age, and was a friend of Johann Peter Hebel , with whom she lived for over 35 years until his death cultivated a lively pen friendship. A memorial plaque on the church wall in Weil am Rhein reminds of this with the inscription: “ Gustave Fecht rests here. Joh. Peter Hebels girlfriend. born August 22, 1768, d. April 23, 1828 ”.

After her father's death, she moved to Lörrach with her mother in 1779 , where she met Johann Hebel, a subordinate of Tobias Günttert. Günttert married a sister of Fecht and took over the parish in Weil am Rhein. Since the Günttert's marriage remained childless, Fecht and her mother, who died in 1812, were also able to move to the parish. From 1790 until her death she stayed in Weil am Rhein. Günttert had become a good friend of Hebel, so he frequented Weil am Rhein, even had his own room in the rectory and was able to meet with Fecht. When he was called to Karlsruhe in 1791, the actual correspondence between the two began, which was carried out in a respectful manner throughout their lives .

Fecht was involved in charities and education. For example, she built a knitting school for girls and a handicraft school.

In Weil am Rhein a street ▼ is named after her, as is the Gustave-Fecht-Weg in her place of birth Eimeldingen . In the State Archive of Baden-Wuerttemberg are personnel files from her.
