history

The name could be derived from a knight named Hinrich von Ryckestorp , who is attested as the owner in 1369 in Gut Lehmkuhlen, not far away . The old Holstein family Rixdorf died in 1509 with Wulf von Rixdorf. The von Brockdorff family owned the Rixdorf estate from 1600 to 1681. In 1671, Wolf Heinrich von Baudissin was born on the Rixdorf estate. It was rebuilt between 1730 and 1740 under the master builder Rudolph Matthias Dallin . The estate has belonged to the Counts of Westphalen zu Fürstenberg since 1790 .

In 1928 the manor district was dissolved and the communities Rathjensdorf (until 1949 Tramm), Lebrade and Mucheln emerged . Rathjensdorf with its districts Theresienhof, Tramm and Neutramm have been part of Gut Rixdorf as Meierhöfe for centuries .

geography

The estate is located on the L 53 between the B 430 (Plön-Lütjenburg) and Lebrade. The small river Kossau flows through the historic village with its many thatched half-timbered houses and flows into the Baltic Sea after flowing through the Great Inland Lake .

Structure of the property

The village is cut through by a cobblestone street . On one side there is the Alte Meierei, a larger house in which several families and individuals live, and a single-family house. On the other side is the suburb, a street with several houses, the manor with the manor house, the 99 meter long thatched gatehouse and many old barns and horse stables, the castle, a more modern building that is used as a hostel for people with disabilities became, the Alte Schmiede, a street with two houses and the Försterweg with the forester's house. A horse stable and a barn burned to the ground on the morning of June 21, 2013.

The coat of arms of the Counts Baudissin , who at times owned the property, can be found above the gate entrance . The coat of arms shows three spirally arranged horns.

In total, Rixdorf has between 50 and 60 inhabitants.

Economy, education and infrastructure

The nearest town, Plön , is about six kilometers away and can be reached by bus. There is the next shop. The community of Lebrade no longer has its own school, which is why the children from Kossau, Lebrade, Rixdorf and Rathjensdorf attend the Plön schools.

Rixdorf had its own volunteer fire brigade , which was closed in 2006. Rixdorf is now receiving fire protection from the Lebrade fire department.

Culture

A cultural highlight in Rixdorf was the May Day celebrations on May 1st of each year. Starting in the morning hours, numerous musicians from the folk scene from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and the Netherlands met with some historical (drone) and other folk instruments in order to create a musical and traditional supporting program for the May celebration after the maypole had been set up. Numerous onlookers followed the performances every year.

This event was originally organized by the volunteer fire department. After their closure, the “Dorfgemeinschaft Rixdorf” association was founded in order to continue celebrating May 1st. The last May celebration took place in 2014.
