Good Sarnow

Gut Sarnow was an agricultural operation at the beginning of the 20th century, which served as a state animal breeding business during the GDR era. Since the beginning of the 1990s it has housed a hotel with a riding facility. Gut Sarnow is located in the Schorfheide in the Barnim district in Brandenburg .

The wasteland is about halfway between the towns of Groß Schönebeck and Eichhorst in a swampy section in the middle of the Schorfheide biosphere reserve . Immediately to the west are the small and large Sarnowsee lakes , two kilometers north of the two Pinnow lakes , five kilometers east of the Werbellinsee and the Werbellink Canal .

history

From 1934 on there was a manor house and various stable buildings on the premises of the farm. In the early 1950s, the state animal breeding company "Vorwerk Sarnow" was founded and in the early 1960s it was converted into a model VEG, a state-owned farm with horse breeding, which produced serum for the medical and pharmaceutical industry in Eastern Germany .

After reunification , Gut Sarnow was converted into a hotel with a restaurant and riding facility. The TV chef Kolja Kleeberg started his own business here in 1993. At the same time, the restaurant was expanded with the current winter garden, the basic structure of which comes from the Museum for Art and Cultural History Dortmund . Today there is a hotel with a restaurant and the riding facility with stables, indoor riding arena and outdoor riding arena.
