The Gmina Małomice [ ˈɡmina mawɔˈmʲiʦɛ ] is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Żagański of the Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city ​​of the same name ( German Mallmitz ) with about 3500 inhabitants.

geography

The municipality with an area of ​​79.5 km² is located in the south of the voivodeship. It borders on the Lower Silesian Voivodeship , the city of Szprotawa (Sprottau) and the rural community Żagań (Sagan) . The waters include Bober (Bóbr), Kwisa (Queis) and Ruda. The voivodeship capital Zielona Góra (Grünberg in Silesia) is about 40 kilometers away, the German border 50 and the Czech border 75 kilometers.

The city is on the Berlin – Wroclaw railway line .

history

The capital Małomice received city ​​rights in 1969 . The church was re-established four years later.

Partnership and collaboration

The community entered into a partnership with Zeuthen in Brandenburg and joined the Spree-Neisse-Bober Euroregion , which was founded in 1993 .
