The Schöller estate (house address Zur Düssel 2 ) is a listed estate in the Schöller district of Wuppertal . It was created on the site of the former Schöller manor .

history

The manor, which is said to have fallen into disrepair in the first quarter of the 18th century, was laid down to the keep by Count Johann Friedrich Bernhard von Schaesberg (1705–1775) . He wanted to use the site to have a new palace built there. This building was not realized because Johann Friedrich died. Instead, Gut Schöller was built by a later tenant.

Today's existing estate was rebuilt around 1884.

The residential building, the former barn building, the coach house , the enclosing wall, the gate entrance and the passage to the chapel were recognized as a monument on July 8, 1996 and entered in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal. The object is of scientific and urban historical importance.

Building description

Gut Schöller has a two- and-a- half-story house and a coach house. Both structures are made of dark-fired bricks . The buildings are grouped around a courtyard with a gate on the western side.

The five- axis house is characterized by neo-Gothic style elements and is built with a high plinth that compensates for the terrain offset to the east. The facade is symmetrical with a central, slightly protruding risalit . This contains the entrance area with a single staircase in front. The risalit continues on the roof with a neo-Gothic stepped gable , the pinnacle-like tip of which is decorated with a wrought-iron decorative element.

On the eastern gable wall is a stable building, which has recently been converted for residential purposes.

Opposite the residential building, with an L-shaped floor plan, are the barn buildings. On the west side there is a coach house, which is open on the courtyard side.
