Gatehouse

The Good Warmenau is a Wehrhof in the city of Melle in the district Schip location-St. Annen in Lower Saxony .

location

The estate is located directly on the border between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia . The eponymous Warmenau , which is the border river here, flows east of the estate. Part of their water feeds the graft , which completely surrounds the property.

Use and condition

The gatehouse and manor house are inhabited. Agricultural outbuildings on the Gruppen Islands, mostly half-timbered, are partly in very poor condition and dilapidated. The moats and the garden are natural.

history

In 1852 the current owner of Brincke bought the Wallenbrück (meanwhile demolished) and Warmenau estates . Warmenau was initially owned by the von Cappel family . Around 1560 there is a Heinrich v. Cappel as the owner. The von Cappel family belonged to the Ravensberg knighthood as early as 1470, which is why they could have been the Lords of Warmenau as early as 1470 (see Horst). In 1686 the estate was bought by von Nagel zu Wallenbrück , from whom it was bequeathed to von dem Bussche in 1775 . At the beginning of the 19th century August von der Groeben bought the estate , who in 1832 sold it to Rittmeister Soest zu Melle. In Soest's bankruptcy in 1852, Graf von Korff gen. Schmising - Kerssenbrock zu Brincke acquired the Hanoverian part (the part that is now Lower Saxony) of the property.
