As a road bridge, the Gutachtalbrücke is part of the federal highway 31 east of Titisee-Neustadt . The structure spans the Gutach Valley with the Gutach Bach , Landesstraße 156 and the Höllentalbahn .

construction

Although there had been plans since 1958 to relieve the Neustadt city center over such a bridge, the project was only decided in 1978. The federal government and the state of Baden-Württemberg took over the costs of 22 million Deutschmarks and awarded the contract to the two companies Polensky & Zöllner and Richard Besemer from Wendlingen am Neckar . The aim of the planning was a bridge that "should fit in optically with nature without impairing the view of the Kappl valley ". The highest bridge in the Black Forest was built from 1978 to 1980 based on a design by Hans Wittfoht . 18500 m³ of concrete, 1870 tons of reinforcing steel and 435 tons of prestressing steel were used. Was made of the superstructure, as the Siegtalbrücke , the cantilever steel subcarrier. The gap closure, the meeting of the two ends of the bridge, happened on June 24, 1981.

construction

The bridge has a longitudinal gradient of 4.08% and leads two lanes uphill and one downhill. In the ground plan, the road route in the building area runs with a horizontal radius of curvature of 600 m.

The bridge consists of a 617 m long main bridge with eight spans and a 134.55 m long, four span connecting bridge. The connecting bridge has a parallel- belted box girder cross-section made of prestressed concrete and is supported by round supports. The transition to the main bridge takes place on a group pillar.

The main bridge, also a prestressed concrete structure, has the continuous beam as a structural system in the longitudinal direction . The central pillars three to five are clamped into the superstructure and act with it as a frame-like structure . The spans are 49 m - 59 m - 4 × 101 m - 59 m - 46 m. In the transverse direction there is a single-cell box girder cross-section with a 17.85 m wide carriageway slab, an 8.55 m wide floor slab and 50 cm thick, vertical webs. In the end spans the superstructure has a constant construction height , in the sections with the large spans it is haunched and has a cross-section height of 3.0 m in the middle of the span and 6.4 m above the pillars. The piers have a width of 8.55 m in the transverse direction at the head and have a reinforced concrete hollow cross-section . The pillars and abutments are founded flat on the granite.
