The Gutenko Mountains are a large and widely dispersed group of hills , nunataks, and small mountains at the southern end of the Dyer Plateau in the center of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . This group includes the Elliott Hills , the Rathbone Hills , the Guthridge Nunatakker, and the Blanchard Nunatakker .

They were discovered during overflights on November 21 and December 23, 1947 as part of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). They are named after Sigmund Gutenko (1905-1991) of the United States Navy , a participant in the expedition. The area was mapped in 1974 by the United States Geological Survey .
