Expert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From the 15th century to the 18th century, an expert , goods confirmation or goods confirmation ( Swiss-German confirmation , 'forwarder' ) supervised the outgoing and incoming transports in the large trading houses. The name is derived from "dispatch goods". In addition to the supervision of the incoming and outgoing goods, the tasks also included the control of the drivers and waybills as well as the correction of the wages. The business operations were summarized under the term Güterbestätterei, whereby the name for the person carrying out the work was different from region to region (also Güterschaffner , shipper or in Hamburg Litzenbruder ).

At the trading places the traffic between the merchants and carters was taken care of and mediated. In some areas, the contractors were also active as freight forwarders , or at the same time took care of the mediation in the rail freight business. In the German railway administration there was an independent "Eisenbahngüterbestätterung". The intermediary of the goods between the sender and the shipper, however, was named by the ship's procurator or ship broker .

In the Rottfuhrordnung from the year 1748 from Bolzano in South Tyrol , the tasks of an expert are named. They had their own vault, from which the carts were loaded.
