The Königsborn manor , also known as Königsborn Castle , is a listed building in Königsborn , a district of the municipality of Biederitz in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the estate is listed as a monument under registration number 094 76367 .

General

It is one of two structures that are referred to in literature as Königsborn Castle. The second is Königsborn Castle in the so-called Alt Königsborn, of which only the foundation walls have been preserved.

history

War councilor Friedrich Gossler had a silk factory run in Königsborn Castle from 1767 and built a new rococo-style residence on a crest of a bump about a kilometer away by 1770 , which established the so-called Neu Königsborn district . Johann Gottlob Nathusius acquired the castle and estate in 1834 and bequeathed it to his son, the farmer and scientist Wilhelm Engelhard Nathusius . From 1888 the castle and estate were owned by the privy councilor von Gansauge and then by his daughter, Countess Chasot. The castle was renovated in 1844 and at the beginning of the 20th century. Due to the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone in 1945, the owners were expropriated and a retirement home was set up. Today the local volunteer fire brigade is located in one of the former farm buildings .

The main building of the Königsborn estate is a two-storey, thirteen-axis building with a gabled central projection on the courtyard side and a wide projection on the garden side.

To the west of the estate belonged a park called the palace park. This was created at the end of the 18th century and changed significantly in the second quarter of the 19th century.
