Gwazi in Busch Gardens Tampa ( Tampa , Florida , USA ) was a wooden roller coaster manufactured by Great Coasters International , which opened on June 18, 1999. She drove her lap until February 1, 2015.
General
The train reached a top speed of 84 km / h and had six near misses . The name Gwazi comes from a mythical creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a lion. Both routes together had a length of around 2069 meters and both routes, the tiger and the lion, had a different course.
Gwazi opened Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios just months after Dragon Challenge . She held the record for most near misses on a Dueling Roller Coaster .
The highlight of Gwazi's Lion page was the number of spirals. The trains on this route were yellow. The tiger side included an element that is more reminiscent of a bobsled slalom than a wooden roller coaster. The trains on this route were blue.
In December 2014 it was announced that the lift would be closed on February 1, 2015 after 16 years of operation.
On March 1, 2019, the park announced that Gwazi will be converted into a Hybrid Coaster by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) for the 2020 season .
Trains
Gwazi owned four trains with six cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. The passengers had to be at least 1.22 m tall to be allowed to ride.
