Montu in Busch Gardens Tampa ( Tampa , Florida , USA ) is a steel roller coaster of the Inverted Coaster model manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard , which was opened on May 16, 1996 in what was then Busch Gardens Tampa .
At the time it opened, Montu was the tallest inverted coaster in the world. The track is 46 m high and has a top speed of 97 km / h. Raptor previously held this record at Cedar Point . But Montu's record only lasted for a short time, because it was exceeded a year later by Alpengeist in Busch Gardens Europe . Montu still holds the record for the most inversions on an inverted coaster, seven in number, and Montu was also the first roller coaster in the world with an Immelmann.
Montu was named after the Egyptian god of war Month . The roller coaster is the center piece of the Egyptian themed area of the park and the only major attraction in this area.
