Scorpion in Busch Gardens Tampa ( Tampa , Florida , USA ) is a steel roller coaster of the model Silberpfeil manufactured by Schwarzkopf , which was opened on May 16, 1980 together with the new Timbuktu themed area. In 2004 Scorpion was repainted from orange / black to orange / blue as part of the renovation of the theme area.

Only three examples of this type of roller coaster exist worldwide. In addition to Scorpion, there is also a Twist and Shout in Loudoun Castle and a mobile version in Europe.

layout

Scorpion has a simple twisted layout with a 12m high loop as the main element. After the train has been pulled up the 19 m high lift hill, it goes down the First Drop into the looping. After the loop there is a curve in the form of a pretzel (a so-called pretzel turn ) and the rail leads through the center of the loop. A subsequent 900 ° helix leads to the end brake.

Trains

Scorpion is served by two trains with five cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car. Lap bars are used as a restraint system.
