György Hidas

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

György Hidas (* 1925 in Budapest ; † July 29, 2012 in Budapest) was a Hungarian psychiatrist , psychoanalyst and specialist author. Until his retirement, Hidas was the head of the psychoanalytical department of the Tündérhegy Hospital in Budapest. The Imre Hermann pupil was a member of the Hungarian Psychoanalytic Association (Magyar Pszichoanalitikus Egyesület) and, after its acceptance into the International Psychoanalytic Association , which he had helped to prepare significantly (1990 after the democratic change in Hungary), he was a training analyst .

György Hidas conducted intensive research into the life and works of Sándor Ferenczi and in 1988 became the founding president of the Hungarian Sándor Ferenczi Society (Ferenczi Sándor Egyesület). The research direction and the therapeutic concept of mother-child bond analysis are based on concepts from Hidas and his student Jenö Raffai .

Personal

György Hidas was born in 1925 with the family name Hennefeld. Hidas studied medicine at the University of Budapest. He lost his father in the Shoah . He Magyarized his name in 1950. After completing his doctorate as a specialist in psychiatry, he received additional training in psychoanalytic studies in 1954. Hidas had three children.

Hidas always tried to keep the connections to western psychiatry. A report by Michael Geyer in his book Psychotherapy in East Germany: History and Stories 1945–1995 (p. 466) highlights Hida's work: 1985… 14. – 17. October 5th Symposium of the Psychotherapists of Socialist Countries in Budapest. Participants: six delegations from the USSR, Bulgaria, CSSR, Hungary, Poland and the GDR (Geyer, König) as well as two observer delegations from Cuba and Yugoslavia. The differences of opinion between the Soviet and Hungarian delegations, which had already existed in 1982, escalated about the need for a western orientation in psychotherapy. The Russians are getting very loud. Poles, Germans and Czechslovaks are on the side of the Hungarians. György Hidas (Hungary) is elected as the new secretary of the working group of socialist countries (who at that time had already obtained provisional membership in the International Psychoanalytic Association for his country).
