High School (Subtitles Journal of ancient culture and humanistic education ) (abbreviated school , Gymn. Or simply G ) is a traditional altertumswissenschaftliche journal in Germany.

The high school was founded in 1890 by Gustav Uhlig as Das humanistische Gymnasium . 1937 the magazine was in high school. Renamed Journal of Ancient Culture and Humanistic Education . The first episode of the magazine ended in 1944 with volume 56. In 1949 a “New Series” that still exists today was started. The grammar school is currently published in six issues per year (previously four). It is published by the Winter University Press in Heidelberg.

Initially, the aim of the magazine was to bring university research and high school education closer together, but it is now primarily aimed at a specialist audience. In terms of content, one finds mainly ancient philological contributions, but articles on ancient history and (rarely) on classical archeology also appear on a regular basis . Contributions are presented in the form of essays, reports, discussions and book reviews. The language of the articles is usually German ; this also applies to most contributions by non-German speaking authors.

The current editors are the two classical philologists Ulrich Schmitzer (since 2001) and Markus Janka (since 2007) and the ancient historian Andreas Luther (since 2007).
