history

Aerial view with boarding school

In 1962 the German grammar school Weißenhorn (near Neu-Ulm ) was relocated to Marktoberdorf and became the German grammar school and the upper secondary school with a dormitory . In 1963 the school was renamed "Peter Dörfler School" after the local writer Peter Dörfler .

In 1969 the school was transformed into a cooperative comprehensive school . This school experiment was discontinued in 1993.

Language sequence

The science and technology branch begins in grade 5 with English lessons . In grade 6, French and Latin are chosen as the second foreign language. The musical branch also begins in grade 5 with English. Latin follows in the sixth grade, and in the tenth grade French can be chosen as a late-beginning foreign language.

orchestra

In addition to the choirs , the school offers the possibility of playing instruments in different groups and ensembles such as duo and trio, brass ensemble, string quartet, young orchestra , large school orchestra and big band . The large school ensembles play z. B. at the spring and Christmas concerts held every year and have concert appearances throughout Bavaria.

In addition, every four to five years an interdisciplinary large-scale musical project with up to 250 actors as singers, actors, dancers, orchestras, make-up and stage designers, sound engineers, etc. is carried out, which is always very popular (always more than 10,000 spectators). The school played u. a. "Pair for pair", "Moby Dick" and "Joseph". In the 2008/2009 school year, the musical Kiss Me, Kate was brought to the stage by Cole Porter .
