Gymnocalycium chacoense is a species of plant in the genus Gymnocalycium from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Gymnocalycium chacoense grows with bright, fresh green, broadly spherical shoots that reach a diameter of 5.5 to 8 centimeters. When old, the plants sprout and form groups of up to 25. The eight to twelve rounded to canted ribs are barely humped. The thin, bristly to stiff, more or less protruding, straight to slightly curved, initially light yellow, darker pointed thorns turn gray later. There are three central spines that are 1.5 to 2.1 centimeters long. The seven to nine radial spines are 0.8 to 1.9 inches long.
The slim, funnel-shaped, white to pale pink flowers , which sometimes barely open between the thorns, are 3.5 to 4.5 centimeters (rarely from 2.5 centimeters) long and have a diameter of 2 to 3.2 centimeters. The green fruits are elongated. They are 0.6 to 0.8 inches long and 0.4 to 0.5 inches in diameter.
