Gymnocalycium stenopleurum is a species of plant in the genus Gymnocalycium from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Gymnocalycium stenopleurum grows individually with gray-green, flattened spherical to spherical shoots and reaches heights of up to 12 centimeters and more with diameters of 6 to 12 centimeters. The eight to 14 ribs are rounded. The needle-like to awl thorns are light to dark brown and somewhat twisted. Central spines are usually absent. The three to six radial spines are 0.7 to 4 inches long.
The white flowers reach a length of 5 to 7 centimeters. The gray-green fruits are up to 4 centimeters long and have a diameter of 1 centimeter.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Gymnocalycium stenopleurum is common in Paraguay and in eastern Bolivia at altitudes of up to 500 meters.
It was first described in 1979 by Friedrich Ritter .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
