Gymnocalycium terweemeanum is a species of plant in the genus Gymnocalycium from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Gymnocalycium terweemeanum usually grows individually with dark green, spherical shoots and reaches a diameter of up to 7 centimeters. The eight to nine low ribs are rounded. Central spines are usually absent. The five to seven radial spines are up to 2 inches long.

The white or pink flowers reach a length of up to 5 centimeters. The green fruits are egg-shaped.

The species is not well known.

Distribution and systematics

Gymnocalycium terweemeanum is common in the Argentine province of Mendoza .

It was first described as Echinocactus platensis var. Terweemeanus in 1930 by A. Teucq and GD Duursma . Wolfgang Borgmann and Jörg Piltz placed the species in 1997 in the genus Gymnocalycium .
