Dieter Riemenschneider
Dieter Riemenschneider (born March 3, 1928 ) was a football player in the top division of the GDR football association , the Oberliga . There he was active for BSG Stahl Thale , BSG Progress Weissenfels and the sports clubs Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt and Turbine Erfurt . He was a GDR selection player in the B and junior national team.
Athletic career
Riemenschneider's debut in the GDR league took place in the 1953/54 season with the team of the company sports community (BSG) Stahl Thale. He only played once for Thale in the league, after the 1953/54 season, BSG Stahl rose forever from the elite league.
With the league newcomer BSG progress Weissenfels appeared again in 1956 Riemenschneider in the league. There, the now 28-year-old had no adjustment problems and came within four seasons with a total of 104 point games on 81 appearances (rate 78%) and scored twelve goals. He attracted the attention of those responsible for the GDR selection, and so he was used once in the B and the junior national team during his time in Weißenfels .
In 1960, Riemenschneider gave a year-long guest appearance at the second-rate GDR league club SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt . There he replaced the 19-year-old newcomer Winfried Patzer as a striker from the seventh match day and immediately belonged to the regular formation of SC Motor. By the end of the season he played 17 point games and was the Karl-Marx-Städter's goalscorer with nine goals . With this balance, Riemenschneider became interesting again for the league, and SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt, based in Aue in western Saxony, took over the dangerous player in his league team. But in Aue, Riemenschneider couldn't get beyond the role of a substitute player. Usually called up in the unfamiliar role as a midfielder, he was only used 13 times in the 1961/62 season, which lasted 39 rounds due to the season change to the summer-spring rhythm, and could not use his previous scoring threat with only two goals bring. Also in the 1962/63 season he scored two goals, but was only used five times between the 6th and 16th matchday in a total of 26 rounds.
Riemenschneider played his last league season in 1963/64 at the age of 35 at SC Turbine Erfurt. Up to the 15th matchday he completed nine encounters each as a left winger, but did not score any more. On January 26, 1964 he was in the encounter of the 15th match day between SC Karl-Marx-Stadt - SC Turbine Erfurt (2-0) for the last time in a league game. After the descent of SC Turbine, Riemenschneider was still part of the Erfurt squad for the 1964/65 GDR league season, but was only used in one point game. He thus had only a minimal share in the immediate resurgence, and at the end of the season, at the age of 37, he finally said goodbye to competitive sport. Within 13 years he had completed eight league seasons, playing 109 games and scoring 16 goals.
