Gymnocorymbus ( Greek gymnos "naked", cephalic "head") is a genus of tropical freshwater fish from the family of the true tetras (Characidae). Belongs to the genus of black tetra ( Gymnocorymbus ternetzi ), a popular swimming toy fish. Gymnocorymbus species occur in northern and central South America ( Amazon basin , Orinoco , Rio Guaporé , Río Paraguay ).

features

Gymnocorymbus species grow to be 2 to 3 inches long. Your body is high back, almost round and strongly flattened on the sides. The dorsal and anal fin are relatively high, the anal fin long. An adipose fin is present. The basia of the anal and caudal fin are not scaly. The unscaled "neck" line in front of the beginning of the dorsal fin (generic name) is typical of the species. The sideline is complete and almost straight.
