Coat of arms of those of Gysenberg

Gysenberg was the name of a Westphalian noble family , which was derived from the place Gysenberg in Herne .

history

A Rötger vom Gisenberge was mentioned in a document in 1217 .

Johann Diederich von Steinen described the noble family: “It is a knight's seat, one hour from Castrop and half an hour from Herne, basically on the Schmedebecke , and the ancestral home of an old, but a few years ago, knight-born family of Gisenberg, from which it by bequest to von Westerholt. There is a beautiful and profitable mill not far from the castle. From the Gisenberg family I find this one: Gisenberg, nobilis familia in Comitatu Marchensi (an elegant family in the county of Mark ) have the castles Gisenberg, Henrichenburg, Asterlage and others. f. In a golden shield they lead three black birds placed one behind the other in rows; five golden lilies with black stems above the helmet adorned with a bulge. "

Arndt von Giesenberg was enfeoffed with the Henrichenburg in 1488 .

With the unmarried Adolf Arnold Robert von Gysenberg, the noble family died out in 1725. His brother Johann Heinrich von Gysenberg († 1717) acted as cathedral capitular and cathedral dean in the prince-bishopric of Speyer ; its baroque epitaph is preserved in the Speyer Cathedral .

The family property passed to the great-nephew of the two brothers mentioned, Joseph Clemens August Maria von Westerholt . The legacy was linked to the condition that the name Gysenberg should be continued. Since then the family has been called Westerholt-Gysenberg .

coat of arms

The coat of arms shows three black birds (blackbirds) sitting in bars in gold. On the helmet with black and gold covers and helmet bulge five (six) green stalked silver (gold) bluebells.
