Gyula Emsberger

Gyula Emsberger (* 22. September 1924 in Felsőgalla , Tatabánya , † 6. March 2011 ) was a Hungarian FIFA - football referee .

Life

Emsberger began his career as a soccer referee after the Second World War in 1947 in the third Hungarian league. In 1952 he was a referee in the second Hungarian division, before he in 1957 with Haladás Szombathely against Csepel SC for the first time a game in the first division, the Nemzeti Bajnokság I , directed. His last game in the first division he whistled on February 3, 1974 when MTK Budapest FC 0-1 against Honvéd Budapest . He worked as a FIFA referee between 1963 and 1973 and was a line judge at the Football World Cup in Mexico in 1970 at the matches between Romania and ČSSR on June 6, 1970 (2: 1), England against ČSSR on June 11, 1970 (1: 0) and Brazil against Peru on June 14, 1970 (4: 2).

He was also a referee in qualifying matches for the European Football Championships in 1972 and 1976, such as the 0: 1 of Malta against the German national football team on December 22, 1974 in Valletta .

After finishing his work as a referee, he was technical advisor to Tatabánya Bányász SC from 1975 to 1979.
