Gyula Kellner (born April 11, 1871 in Budapest , † July 28, 1940 in Szolnok ) was a Hungarian long-distance runner who was third in the marathon at the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 .

Out of a total of 17 runners in this race, Kellner was the only one of four foreigners besides 13 Greeks who had run a full marathon before. These four foreigners were ahead of the Greek pursuers up to more than half of the distance, but at kilometers 23 and 34, the American Arthur Blake and then the French Albin Lermusiaux gave up. Waiter was gradually overtaken by three Greek runners; in the meantime, the leading Australian Edwin Flack had also given up.

Kellner crossed the finish line in fourth place with a time of 3:06:35 hours. When it turned out that the third-placed Spyridon Belokas had covered part of the route by wagon, Kellner was awarded third place.

Gyula Kellner died a few months after the winner of the run, Spyridon Louis, at the age of 69.
