Häringen is a hamlet belonging to the town of Weilheim an der Teck in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Häringen is located in the Häringer Valley directly on the Albtrauf, about 4 km southeast of the city at the origin of the Häringer Bach , which is the left upper reaches of the Schmiedbach .

history

Häringen is likely to have originated in the late Middle Ages as the farmyard of Erkenberg Castle and originally consisted of the Upper Court and the Lower Court. The hamlet was first mentioned in writing in 1330 as herring . Local sovereignty has always been with the city rulers of Weilheim and therefore shared their political fortunes.

The place had around 50 inhabitants at the beginning of the 17th century. The settlement was abandoned during the Thirty Years War . Around 1680, the ducal rent chamber built a large dairy here, which burned down in 1744. The site was then sold. Only slowly then did the population grow again, to 28 in 1806 and to 53 by 1847.

Today Häringen is known for several restaurants for excursions.

traffic

A community road leads to Häringen , which branches off the L 1213 (Weilheim-Gruibingen) and ends in Häringen.
