Håkan Ingvar von Eichwald (born April 2, 1908 in Turku , Finland , † May 1, 1964 in Malmö ) was a Swedish composer and orchestra conductor.

Live and act

Eichwald, who took piano lessons at an early age, first studied in Helsinki and then continued his studies in Würzburg and Vienna . In 1926 he went to Sweden, where he worked as a pianist in the Vasa theater orchestra in Stockholm , which he directed between 1927 and 1930. Then he founded his own orchestra, with which he performed in the Kaos and other dance cafes in Stockholm. In 1932 he performed in Germany, where he was celebrated as the “Swedish jazz king” and recorded numerous records. In 1934 Arne Hülphers took over this dance orchestra.

From 1937 Eichwald led a new orchestra. In 1939 and 1940, Eichwald was not able to fully match his earlier successes on further Germany tours, where he appeared at the Femina-Palast , but he also made records in Berlin in 1939. Then he worked as the operetta conductor of the Vasatheater. Between 1945 and 1959 he conducted the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra . From 1962 he was employed at the Malmö stadsteater .

Eichwald wrote ten film scores between 1943 and 1956 .

Between 1929 and 1935 he was married to the actress Maritta Marke and from 1936 to the dancer Ingrid Tunér.
