Håkon Eikemo Opdal (born June 11, 1982 in Odda ) is a Norwegian football goalkeeper. His father is the local politician and mayor of Odda Municipality, John Opdal .
Career
The 1.87 m tall goalkeeper played for Odda FK in his youth . In 2000 he moved to the Tippeligaen Club Brann Bergen . He made his competitive debut for Brann in 2001 in the cup game against Ørn Horten . It was his only game that season. In the 2002 season he came to Bergens goalkeeper Ivar Rønningen not past. In the last game against Rosenborg BK he was substituted on and thus made his Tippeligaen debut.
In the 2003 season he came to 13 league appearances due to an injury to Ivar Rønningen. Opdal became a regular goalkeeper in the summer of 2004 after Rønningen left the club. At the end of the season he won the Norwegian Cup with Bergen.
In 2005 he made 24 league appearances and was in goal in four UEFA Cup games. At the beginning of the 2006 season, he only conceded seven goals in eleven games. Due to the good performance, national coach Åge Hareide nominated him for the A international match against South Korea . However, he stayed on the bench for the 90 minutes. On November 15, 2006 he finally made his international debut against Serbia .
In the 2007 season he was missing only one league game due to a red card. At the end of the season he won the Norwegian championship with Brann Bergen.
In early 2007, Håkon Opdal extended with Brann Bergen until 2011. After his departure in 2011, when he had only made six league appearances last year, he only sat on the bench in the remaining games and made it to the final of the Norwegian Football Cup in 2011 brought, Opdal moved to the Danish first division club SønderjyskE for the 2012/13 season . There he played 13 league games and moved back to his home country during the current season. In 2013 he was in goal for the Tippeligaen club Start Kristiansand . With the newcomer from the Adeccoligaen 2012 , he was used in all 30 league games and reached ninth place in the table with the team in the final standings. In 2014 , Odpal became team captain and was used in the first 20 championship games, but was no longer in the official squad for the last ten rounds. With the team, he only finished twelfth in the table at the end of the season. In the following game year 2015 , he had to hand over his captain's ribbon mainly to the Icelander Guðmundur Kristjánsson . To date (as of September 25, 2015) he has been used in 24 of 25 league games and reached a personal milestone in a 1-1 away draw against Vålerenga Oslo on September 25, 2015 when he hit a direct free kick from the own half hit the opposing goal and thus scored the 1-1 final score.
