Hålishalsen ( Norwegian for smooth ice necks ) is an icy mountain saddle in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It lies between the short Mountains of the Orvin Mountains and the southern polar plateau .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named it, mapped it on the basis of measurements and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
