Héctor Islas Mendoza (born September 8, 1967 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield and after his active career was active in the coaching staff of various clubs.
career
player
Islas began his professional career at his hometown club, Club América, and in his first two seasons 1983/84 and 1984/85 belonged to the squad of the championship team that won the Mexican football championship twice in a row .
Because Islas could not prevail at América and had only come to three point games in the two seasons, he was transferred to the Cobras Querétaro farm team, which was newly created in the summer of 1985 , where he was used much more often than at the main club. After this club moved to the border town of Ciudad Juarez with the new name Cobras Ciudad Juarez , he quickly became a regular player and was the only one of the more important Cobras players who had played in all five first division seasons of the club until relegation in 1992.
After the descent of the Cobras, Islas switched to the CD Cruz Azul and ended his career with Monarcas Morelia between 1996 and 1998 .
Trainer
After completing his playing career, Islas began working as a coach and since 2004 he has been employed in the coaching staff of various clubs. Currently (April 2016) he is under contract as an assistant coach at the second division Atlético San Luis .
