Hector Murena

Héctor Alberto Álvarez Murena (also HA Murena; * 1923 in Buenos Aires , † 1975 there ) was an Argentine writer .

Murena studied at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and the Universidad de Buenos Aires . After successfully completing his degree, he got a job with the daily newspaper “ La Nación ”, where he did a. a. also the acquaintance of Silvina Bullrich and Mateo Booz ; But there was never any real collaboration.

Murena later wrote for newspapers and magazines such as "Lettres Nouvelles", "Sur" and the like. a.

reception

Murena wrote a single play "El juez", which was highly praised by the audience as well as by official critics. In it he deals with the drama of a bourgeois family, torn from their Biedermeier character, he lets them experience hell.

In his trilogy “Historica” Murena shows himself entirely as a student of Eduardo Mallea . Stylishly, frighteningly rabulist and ironically written, it is considered one of his most important works. Another cycle, which remained unfinished, is entitled “ El sueño de la razón ” and pays homage to Francisco Goya .
