Hector Quintanar
Héctor Quintanar (born April 15, 1936 in Mexico City ; † October 24, 2013 there ) was a Mexican composer and conductor.
Quintanar studied harmony with Rodolfo Halffter and composition with Carlos Jiménez-Mabarak at the Conservatory of Mexico. In 1960 he became a member of Carlos Chávez Ramírez's composition workshop , where he later headed the electronic music department. He was also the conductor of the symphony orchestra of the University of Mexico, the symphony orchestras of Xalapa and Guadalajara and the opera of Morelia and was artistic director of the Teatro Juárez of Guanajuato .
In addition to a symphony and other orchestral works, chamber music , a cantata and songs , he wrote numerous works for electronic instruments.
