Hélène Rey

Hélène Rey (* 1970 ) is a French economist specializing in international macroeconomics . She is a professor at the London Business School and regularly writes columns for the French financial newspaper Les Échos . Rey is a Fellow at the British Academy and the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a member of the Science Council of the Fondation Banque de France and a member of the Bellagio Group on the International Economy.

Career

Rey completed her undergraduate studies at the École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique (ENSAE ParisTech) in Paris . After completing her master's degree at Stanford University , she received her PhD from the London School of Economics and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales . From 1997 to 2000 she was a lecturer at the London School of Economics before moving to Princeton University in the USA. Here Rey was initially Assistant Professor of Economics and International Affairs. In 2006 she became a full professor at the Economics Department, Woodrow Wilson School and the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University. She held this position until she moved to London Business School in 2007.

research

In her research, Rey focuses on the determinants and consequences of foreign trade and financial imbalances, as well as the theory of financial crises and the organization of the international monetary system.
