The Hôtel de Mauroy in Troyes , the administrative seat of the Aube department in the Grand Est region , was built around 1550. The Hôtel particulier at 7 rue de la Trinité has been classified as a Monument historique since 1862 .

history

The Renaissance- style city palace was built for wealthy merchants who stored salt, wine and fabrics in the outbuildings.

The city of Troyes acquired the building in 1966 and left it to the Compagnons du Devoir (Association of Journeyman Journeyman ), who set up the Musée de l'Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière , the largest museum for artisans' tools.
