Hell Valley Bridge

The Höllentalbrücke , also known as the Frankenwaldbrücke, is part of the "Frankenwaldbrücken" project, which leads over two spectacular pedestrian bridges as part of a 5-kilometer hiking trail through part of the Frankenwald Nature Park . The second bridge on the route is the Lohbachtalbrücke (387 m).

location

The Höllentalbrücke spans the Höllental nature reserve in the Hof district, for example above the Höllental an der Selbitz hydroelectric power station, over a length of around 1,030 meters. It is intended to be the world's longest free span pedestrian bridge.

planning

The project idea was developed around 2015, the planning for implementation continues. In August 2020, Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber ( Free Voters ) granted an exemption for the construction of the controversial suspension bridge, thereby ignoring the concerns of the experts of the nature conservation advisory board of the government of Upper Franconia. If construction begins immediately, completion is possible in summer 2022.
