Hölterfeld is a district of the city of Remscheid in Bergisches Land . The statistical district is characterized by large differences in altitude between the Morsbachtal and the eastern and southern elevations. In the valley, the state road L216 runs along the Morsbach, the state road L157 runs parallel to it on the heights. The Morsbach forms the city limits to Wuppertal - Cronenberg in the north and west . The district includes several old settlements, some of which were first mentioned in 1363:

Water engines

On the Morsbach there have been several hammers and grinding heads in the area of ​​today's district since early modern times . These include the Bruscheider Kotten (from 1623, now part of Wuppertal- Bruscheid ), the Ibachhämmer (from 1598, now part of Wuppertal- Breitenbruch ), the Hasterauer Kotten (from 1548) and the Brandhammer (from 1692). The company Carl August Picard (CAPicard) emerged from the Hasterauer Kotten, which still produces today with eight other branches worldwide at the Hasteraue location.
