The Hörseltalbahn GmbH is a non-federal railway infrastructure and transport company founded in 1992 and based in Eisenach . It is 100 percent owned by Captrain Deutschland GmbH .

History and corporate structure

The company was founded on March 19, 1992 as part of the Opel plant in Eisenach . In December 1992 it was licensed as a public railway infrastructure company within the meaning of Section 6 AEG . The railway company was the first non-federally owned railway in the new federal states .

The Hörseltalbahn handles the rail logistics in the Eisenach Opel factory. The company operates public railway infrastructure with a route length of 9.3 km. In addition, there are the Opel Eisenach GmbH siding with a length of 1.5 km and the Benteler connection with a length of 0.8 km. As of summer 2007, the railway carried around 40,000 railroad cars and 420,000 tons of freight over the year. In the company's own transshipment facility, up to 120 containers with a weight of up to 45 tons can be loaded onto trucks and vice versa every day.
