The remnants of the two arches of the archsum are located southwest of Archsum on the island of Sylt , in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein . They are located on the lake side of the Nössedeich , near the Merelmerskhoog . The people of Sylt call this place Mootjis Küül , "Grandmothers Kuhle". They originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. And are megalithic systems of the funnel beaker culture (TBK). “Neolithic monuments are an expression of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are considered to be the hallmarks of social development ”.

Grave 1

The stones of the grave become visible at low tide , they lie in the mud flats and are exposed to destruction by the North Sea . The position of the stones has changed due to the constant interference of the sea, so the original burial chamber can no longer be recognized. In Ernst Sprockhoff's "Atlas of Germany's Megalithic Tombs" the giant bed is listed as "Sprockhoff 7". The long bed was examined by Gottfried Schäfer in 1963 . He uncovered an almost undamaged stone chamber.

The chamber is a dolmen with the internal dimensions of 2.3 × 1.2 m. It consisted of three pairs of bearing stones. A large, flat boulder was leaning against the narrow western side . An entry stone set into the ground formed the end of the east side.

Grave 2

There is another barren bed 20 m northwest of grave 1. In Ernst Sprockhoff's "Atlas of Germany's Megalithic Tombs" it is listed as "Sprockhoff 8". This grave was also examined by Gottfried Schäfer in 1963. He found two chambers in the five to six meter wide barren bed.

The western chamber was formed by three supporting stones on the southern long side and two on the northern long side. On the eastern and western narrow sides, there was a relatively flat erratic boulder. A floor covering made of stone tiles was only preserved in a few places.

The eastern chamber is formed by two supporting stones on the southern long side and one on the northern long side. A boulder was set up on the eastern and western narrow sides.
