South Zhejiang megalithic barrows

The barrows of South Zhejiang or "stone roof tombs " ( shipengmu ) of South Zhejiang ( Chinese  浙南 石棚 墓群 , Pinyin Zhènán shípéngmù qún ) are located in the area of ​​the independent city of Rui'an and the districts of Pingyang and Cangnan , all of which belong to the prefecture-level city of Wenzhou in the south of the Chinese province of Zhejiang .

Specifically, these are sites on the mountain Qipan Shan 棋盘山 the village Shiyang the greater community Huangshe 篁社镇 of Rui'an , those on Mount Longtou Shan 龙头山 in the village Chuiyang the greater community Qiancang 钱仓镇 of Pingyang and on Mount Tongqiao 桐 桥 of Qianku Township 钱 库 镇 of Cangnan .

Thirteen sites belonging to two different grave types have already been discovered. They belong to the Shang and Zhou periods (17th century - 256 BC). Numerous ceramics of various shapes and forms used as grave goods were discovered.

The megalithic barrows of South Zhejiang have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (5-161) since 2001 .
