The Hünfeld SV is a sports club from Hünfeld, northeast of Fulda, and with (as of September 2018) approx. 1,400 members of one of the clubs with the largest number of members in East Hesse. It was founded on June 22, 1919. The club colors are blue and white; in the case of the athletes, green and black differ.
In a total of 9 departments, the club covers a wide range of sports from youth and popular sports to competitive sports. The departments of the association are football , gymnastics , handball , heart sports , children's gymnastics , running club , athletics , table tennis and volleyball .
Soccer
The club plays its home football games in the Rhönkampfbahn, which holds 4,000 spectators.
After relegation from the Oberliga Hessen in 2004, the club failed often and narrowly in promotion, including twice in relegation. After five years in the Landesliga Hessen Nord, the club was promoted to the Football Hessen League in 2008 . In 2008/09 they managed to stay up. After the 2010/11 season , the club had to relegate to the Association League Hessen North . In the following season, the direct rise succeeded. The club had to accept relegation from the Hessenliga after the 2013/14 season. In the 2017/18 season, the Hünstelder SV again secured the Association League championship and rose to the highest Hessian league for the fifth time. In 2019 the team had to relegate.

Other departments
Table tennis
The table tennis department is one of the oldest departments with a history going back over 80 years. The greatest sporting successes for men date back to the 1970s and 1980s, with numerous seasons in the Hessenliga, and for women in the 1990s in the regional league. The table tennis department currently has over 100 members and takes part in the competition with junior, women's and men's teams.
Running club
The running club organizes the Huenfeld city run every year. Start and finish is the Rhönkampfbahn. The Hünfeld city run is part of the Rhön Super Cup. The Rhön Super Cup is an overall ranking of 11 different running events in one season.
athletics
The own athletics festivals are held in the Rhönkampfbahn, which can hold 4000 spectators. The Hessian Endurance Championships will take place on April 7, 2019 on the Rhönkampfbahn.
